Transforming Colorectal Surgery with Nanofiber Technology

After 200 years without a solution, we are bringing real progress to surgical care. Our nanofibrous patch is designed to prevent anastomotic leakage and adhesions – two of the most dangerous complications in gastrointestinal surgery.

Innovative Medical Patch to Prevent Surgical Complications

Nanoflexion is a future medtech spin-off from the heart of Europe, developing a revolutionary nanofiber-based surgical patch designed to prevent anastomotic leakage and postoperative adhesions — two of the most dangerous complications after colorectal surgery.

Our solution is a nanofiber patch that creates a biocompatible & biodegradable barrier. The patch is applied intuitively during surgery - fast, equipment-free, and without adding burden to the surgical team.

Why Our Technology Matters

Anastomotic leakage affects up to 15% of patients after bowel resection — with mortality rates between 6–22%. Adhesions develop in up to 50%, leading to chronic pain, bowel obstruction, and infertility. Current barrier materials are ineffective, invasive, or unscalable.

There has been no reliable solution in over 200 years.

Nanoflexion’s nanofiber patch changes this by acting as a biological barrier that:

  • Seals the anastomosis

  • Reduces inflammation

  • Prevents tissue adhesion formation

  • Doesn’t extend surgical time or require special equipment

  • Can act as a local drug delivery system

A Nanotechnology-Driven Solution for Better Healing

Our patch uses electrospun nanofibers to form a tissue-friendly, protective layer around the surgical site.

Key advantages:

  • Biodegradable and biocompatible materials

  • Simple application — no extra tools

  • Scalable production using Nanospider™ industrial technology

  • Developed and validated through 7+ years of biomedical research
